The health, safety, and security of our patrons and artists is of the utmost concern to Instituto Cervantes, therefore, we have decided to cancel all our cultural events from now through May 1st, 2020. We are following CDC recommendations to ensure that our center is as safe as possible. Last night, Thursday, March 13th, Governor J.B. Pritzker, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, and Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle press conference discouraging any public gatherings of more than 250 people and mandating that gatherings of more than 1,000 be cancelled for at least 30 days, and possibly until May 1. Officials are particularly concerned about events with greater participation from elderly and vulnerable populations.
The Instituto Cervantes, in collaboration with Old Town School of Folk Music and City Winery announces the Chicago Flamenco Festival 2020. The Festival’s impressive line-up spans the world of music and dance and features some of art’s brightest rising stars as well as established and critically acclaimed artists. These distinctive events further the Instituto Cervantes’ dedication to bringing the finest of Spanish and Hispanic culture to Chicago.
Omayra Amaya’s legacy is one of a deep and proud gypsy flamenco tradition. The daughter of flamenco dancers Olga and Curro Amaya and grandniece the greatest Flamenco dancer who ever lived, Carmen Amaya.
Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company is a non-profit performing arts organization dedicated to the education and awareness of Flamenco Arts.
